Toddler Camping

We took a night before our new baby comes to go tent camping with our little man, and it went well. Wahoo!

He was able to experience setting up camp, having a campfire, eating fresh s’mores, going for a little “hike” and sleeping in a tent with a sleeping bag as his bed. Thankfully, he slept pretty well!

It is definitely a different experience camping with a little toddler. Everything is new, fascinating and worth exploring. Oh, and who sits and enjoys a campfire when you can walk around and steal bites from both Daddy’s and Mommy’s s’mores?!? Having him along gave us a little extra spunk and added some character. He brought a whole new life to camping and also presented a few new camping challenges for us to learn how to manage, but nothing too difficult or serious. 🙂

New experiences can be wonderful or miserable. With a toddler along for the ride, something is always new and so far it has been wonderful! The Lord truly blessed us along our path with a new stage of life where we are reminded how great He is and to be joyful and thankful in all things He does for us. After all, God is the creator and giver of life!

“All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. – John 1:3-4

“You have granted me life and lovingkindness; And Your care has preserved my spirit.” – Job 10:12

So, if you want to bring new life to an activity you commonly enjoy, try bringing a toddler along. Trust me, It’s worth it! And for us, we will continue to bring him (and his new sibling) camping, 4-wheeling, tractor and truck driving, and well…you name it. It brightens our hearts to see his excitement!

“Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” – Genesis 2:7

  1. Great picture of “your guys.” I love it! What a wonderful blessing to “commune” outdoors in God’s creation, roughing it so to speak! Ya right… don’t look like you’re roughing it too much…..roasted marshmellows and smores are most certainly the sweet side of the camping experience.
Always enjoy reading of your adventures!
