College graduation. Another milestone in life. A time of change. For many, it means going from an every-changing schedule and activities at all different times of the day and week, to a regular weekly schedule that seems the same every week. For some, the schedule may remain unpredictable. Either way, that’s a transition that another member of our family is taking today!
The oldest of my three brothers is graduating from North Dakota State University, home of the Bison. This is exciting for him for many reasons, and us as well…that means that so far there are 3 of us NDSU grads in our family…with more to come! We are so excited for him.
While graduation seems to bring about a sense of change in one’s life, no matter what the circumstances are, we are reminded that changes are always occurring and we cannot stop them. Sometimes that change can cause us to become uncertain. There are times in my own life when I became unsure about what step to take next, or what door to walk through, as I was going through a change.
But we can take comfort that the Lord never changes.
“For I the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.” -Malachi 3:6
Even King David found comfort in knowing that the Lord never changes. His righteousness and grace is everlasting, as well as his justice.
“But thou art the same, And thy years shall have no end.” -Psalms 102:27
And we know that the Lord will always guide us and protect us while we are in a relationship with Him, trusting Him along every turn and twist in the road.
“The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun will not smite you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever.” -Psalm 121:5-8
So no matter what changes come your or my way, we are able to rest assured that the Lord knows us and is caring for us…even if we think everything around us is uncertain. He has a plan.
One more thing, just for my brother: Congratulations! We are always praying for you and are excited for you to be done with homework and walking through a new open door!
